Yes, indeed.

Welcome to the most natural extension of the Mountaineer; one that fits in your pocket.

That’s right, our goal is to reach our membership with excellent news, info, and resources with the immediacy and accessibility of a website. Things are changing rapidly in the post office and with our Union, so I hope this will serve all the members of Branch 203 to stay up to date and find ways to engage our membership. I’m your host, Alec, and if you’ve read any Mountaineers in 2023 you’ve read my work and you know what I’m about. If you haven’t, I hope you’ll check in on what's going on here and see what we’re doing for you.

“What happened to the Mountaineer?” In short, the time to put the printed Mountaineer together with the massive overtime loads of the holiday season, and management’s non-compliance with agreements, I found myself very short on time to be able to do much of anything. My hobby and personal life have been non-existent since mid-November, and it was then that I realized I could not keep up with the Mountaineer in the capacity I was working it. I needed a more direct and less time-consuming way to reach our members, so I brought the proposal for a website before the Branch at the last meeting on February 1st, and they unanimously agreed. Those that helped make this happen, thank you for your support and vision for our branch.

What’s the plan, though? Glad you asked.

I want to help our branch members get educated about their rights, the National Agreement, and the grievance procedure happening in our area. Significant issues and wins will be posted here for your understanding, and so you can have an educated voice on the workroom floor about your procedures and protections. There is a lot of change coming and if we have a platform like this you’ll be able to check it out before you clock-in or even on a break.

I want to share spotlights on our community, our membership, and make opportunities for us to gather and have good fellowship. We can share galleries of photos from events like the Food Drive, Union activities like Rap Sessions, and even from Branch 203 events like some bowling or laser tag. Yes, dear reader, I did say bowling or laser tag, because I’m down to clown and I’d love to hang with all of our families.

And there we have it.

Prepare yourself for the most up-to-date and accessible form of Union information tailored to our branch. If you have suggestions, comments, or questions don’t hesitate to hit me up.
